25 years of peace in Cyprus - an occasion for celebration!

The only solution: 2 people, 2 states = permanent peace

On 21st December 1963 Greek Cypriots began the ethnic cleansing of Turkish Cypriots - Co-founders of The Republic of Cyprus. Hundreds of Turkish Cypriots - men, women and children - were murdered in the eleven years of genocide that followed. There are still over 1000 Turkish Cypriots missing and unaccounted for.

In July 1974 the Junta from Greece together with Greek Cypriot armed terrorists and their supporters united to overthrow the so called Government of Cyprus. They then turned their intentions on to the Turks to complete their program of genocide and Hellenisation of the island.

Before the Turkish army could rescue all the Turkish Cypriot people, hundreds were massacred and buried in mass graves including school children and babies.

Under the circumstances Turkey intervened on 20 July 1974, in accordance with the Treaty of Guarantee, to save the lives of Turkish Cypriots. The Turkish Cypriots were liberated and saved in a Kosovo-like peace operation.

They now have their own independent and democratic government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

...there has been peace on the island ever since.
